The Significance of Our Seedlings: These 100% wild-type American chestnut seeds are grown in our conservation orchard, where mother trees were deliberately inoculated with three strains of chestnut blight. Those that survived—many now over 30 years old —produced the nuts from which these seedlings are grown.

• All seedlings are wild-type American chestnuts (non-genetically modified)
• Like all wild-type American chestnut trees, they are susceptible to blight
• Selected from some of the best surviving trees, but performance will vary
• Our conservation orchards are free of chestnut gall wasps
